A society where all women, girls, trans, intersex, non-binary, and other gender-diverse people, especially those who are underprivileged, marginalized, and minorities, co-exist with dignity, self-respect, human rights, and equal opportunities. We believe that these individuals already possess inherent leadership and are empowered. We aim to further facilitate this by removing barriers and creating spaces that support them to take on leadership roles. By diminishing gender disparities, advocating for feminism, and initiating societal transformation, we strive to make empowerment accessible and nuanced, ensuring that their voices are heard and respected.
To support women, trans, intersex, non-binary, and other gender-diverse people in becoming self-reliant in livelihoods. We work toward bridging the gaps that hinder their access to rights, facilitating further knowledge and awareness building, and creating opportunities where they can advocate for themselves with various stakeholders within and outside of the community. We aim to facilitate their meaningful participation as citizens through training and promote their leadership in communities and beyond through Feminist Women's Leadership Groups, enabling self-reliance so they can claim and secure their rights as decision-makers, advocates, and leaders.
Our goals include supporting women, girls, trans, intersex, non-binary and other gender-diverse people's empowerment in achieving gender equality. In three years, we aim for 300 girls and gender-diverse youth in community leadership positions and connect 250 women and gender-diverse people with sustainable livelihoods. We will support 200 marginalized girls and gender-diverse youth in higher education and establish 10 grassroots libraries. Additionally, we strive to have 50 women and gender-diverse people start businesses, raise awareness about POCSO among 300 students, governance and facilitate legal and human rights awareness among 300 women and gender-diverse people.
The Avira Foundation began its journey with the aim of driving social change and addressing deep-rooted issues like gender inequality, lack of formal education, and bonded labor in Haryana.
Avira Foundation was officially established under the Trust Act of the Government of Haryana. This marked the formal beginning of its operations as a women and queer people-led grassroots organization dedicated to working with adolescent girls and young women.
Avira Foundation launched HLN to provide free legal assistance and address systemic issues against marginalized individuals.
Avira Foundation expanded its operations to 50 villages across five districts in Haryana: Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal, Jind, and Kaithal. This expansion aimed to tackle systemic issues prevalent in these areas by amplifying narratives and working toward gender justice.
